Funded by generous donations to the AOPA Foundation, a wealth of scholarship opportunities are available, including those earmarked for high school students.
The Lyons Aviation Foundation Scholarship
APPLICATION DEADLINE IS JANUARY 15, 2026!
Lyons Aviation Foundation is a private foundation that awards a yearly aviation scholarship to financially support a deserving young person pursuing their Private Pilot Certificate.
The LeRoy W. Homer Jr. Foundation Flight Training Scholarship 2025
APPLICATION DEADLINE IS JANUARY 31, 2026!
LeRoy Homer was the First Officer on Flight 93, which was hijacked on September 11, 2001. The Foundation’s mission is to continue LeRoy’s love of flight by assisting young men and women who wish to pursue professional aviation careers. The Foundation will award flight instruction scholarships to potential students for private pilot certification.
IBAA CFI and Atp-cpt Scholarship
APPLICATION DEADLINE IS June 1, 2026!
The Iowa Business Aviation Association (IBAA) established this 2025 CFI scholarship in partnership with Jet Air Inc, Midland Aircraft and Revv Aviation to award a qualified applicant funds to be used towards an initial CFI license with the goal of furthering a career in aviation in Iowa while also creating more pilots in the state.
Iowa Aviation Promotion Group Scholarship
APPLICATION DEADLINE IS April 1, 2026!
First awarded in 2022, the $2500 Chuck McDonald Aviation Training Scholarship encourages
those 16-24 years old to begin a career path in aviation by assisting in funding their flight
training.
