Quick start
- 1Make sure you have your FAA Tracking Number (FTN) from IACRA before scheduling.
- 2Create your PSI account and verify your eligibility for the correct exam.
- 3Select your test, choose a location, pick a date, and pay online to confirm the appointment.
How to schedule your FAA written test
Step 1 - Get your FTN
You need an FAA Tracking Number before you can schedule your knowledge test. If you do not already have one, create an account in IACRA first.
Step 2 - Go to the PSI FAA testing site
Visit the FAA PSI testing portal and create an account if this is your first time scheduling a written exam.
Step 3 - Set up your account
Enter your name exactly as it appears in your FAA records and complete the sign-in and authentication setup requested by PSI.
Step 4 - Verify your eligibility
Use your FTN to connect your FAA record, then choose the exam you need, such as PAR for Private Pilot Airplane.
Step 5 - Select your authorization details
During scheduling, you may need to confirm items such as the number of attempts, your authorization category, and how you qualified to take the exam.
Step 6 - Choose a testing center and time
Search by ZIP code or distance, select your preferred PSI testing location, and choose an available appointment time.
Step 7 - Pay and save your confirmation
Pay the exam fee online and keep your confirmation email so you have your appointment details for test day.
Before test day
